Storage
Create storage containers, rename or delete them, and control who can reach each folder.
Super Drive stores your files in containers. A container lives in one region and belongs to one prefix. You open a container to work with its folders and files, like a file explorer.
Hexa and Object Store
You reach Super Drive from two sidebar items:
- Super DriveHexa (File Storage): file storage, organised in folders.
- Super DriveObject Store: object storage.
Both open the same screen and work the same way. The title shows which one you are in, and files you upload are tagged with that storage type. Today both screens list all the containers in the selected prefix, so a container you create from one also appears in the other.
Choose a prefix
Nothing is listed until you pick a prefix.
- Open Super DriveHexa (File Storage) or Super DriveObject Store.
- Pick a prefix in the Select Prefix list at the top.
The containers table appears with Super Id, Name, Region, Created At and Action. If you clear the prefix, you'll see "Please select prefix." If the list is empty, nobody has attached a prefix to you yet: see Prefixes.
The table's search box matches the exact container name, so type the full name.
Create a container
- Pick a prefix in Select Prefix at the top of the screen first. Without it, the list can't refresh after you create the container.
- Click Create Container.
- In Select Prefix, choose the prefix the container belongs to. Choose the same one as at the top of the screen, or the new container won't show until you switch to its prefix.
- In Select Region, choose where the container is stored.
- Type a Name.
- Click Create.
You'll see "Successfully Created Instance", the dialog closes and the list reloads with the new container.
Check that the container is in the list: the success message can appear even when the request was rejected, for example when no prefix or region was picked in the dialog. If it isn't there, or you see "Unable to attach.", the container wasn't created. Check the prefix, region and name, then try again. If it keeps failing, your role may not allow creating storage in this prefix: ask an administrator (roles).
Open a container
Click ActionExplore on a container. The list is replaced by the file explorer. See Work with files.
To see the container's Container Name, Super Id and URN, click the ⓘ button in the explorer header. Click ✕ to go back to the container list.
Rename a container
- Click ActionRename on the container.
- Change the Name in the Edit Container dialog.
- Click Create to save.
The console shows the result and reloads the list.
Delete a container
The container and everything in it are deleted. Download anything you want to keep first.
- Click ActionDelete on the container.
- In the Warning! dialog, click Delete. Click Close to keep the container.
The console shows the result and the container disappears from the list.
Share a folder with other prefixes
Use Manage Prefix to let people in other prefixes reach one folder, each prefix with a role.
- Open the container and go to the folder's parent folder.
- Click ⋮ on the folder row, then Manage Prefix.
- Pick a Prefix and a Role, then click Add. Repeat for more prefixes.
- To take a prefix off the list, click ✕ on its row.
- Click Save.
You'll see "Successfully updated folder prefixes." The list you save replaces the folder's previous list. When the list is empty, the dialog reads "No prefixes attached to this folder."
Every prefix you add here is also given access to the whole container, not only this folder. Removing the prefix here doesn't remove that container access. To remove it, go to Organization SettingsServices Prefixes, see Prefixes.
If you see "Please select a prefix and a role.", pick both before clicking Add. If you see "Unable to update folder prefixes." or "Unable to grant service-level access for the new prefixes.", the change wasn't saved: try again, or ask an administrator to check your role.
Protect a folder with a traffic profile
A traffic profile is a set of IP rules. Attach one to a folder to control which addresses can reach the published files and folders inside it. A folder can have one traffic profile.
- Click ⋮ on the folder row, then Traffic Profiles.
- Search for and pick a profile in Traffic Profile, then click Add. Picking another profile replaces the one in the list.
- Click Save.
You'll see "Successfully saved traffic profile." The dialog shows the profile's name, description and number of rules.
To detach it, click ✕ on the profile, then Save. You'll see "Successfully detached traffic profile."
If you see "Could not find that traffic profile's details", search for the profile and pick it again. "Unable to save traffic profile." means the change wasn't saved: try again.
Troubleshooting
- "Please select prefix." Pick a prefix at the top of the screen.
- My new container isn't in the list. It was created under a different prefix. Switch the prefix at the top.
- The create dialog stays open after Create. Pick a prefix at the top of the screen, then reload the list.
- I can't find a container by searching. Search matches the exact name. Type it in full.
