Event logs

Read the history of every machine in a prefix from one screen.

Event logs show what happened to each machine in a prefix: when it was created, started, stopped, resized, snapshotted, and any errors. Use them to find out when something changed, or to give support the details of a problem.

Read a machine's log

  1. Open Super MachinesEvent Logs.
  2. Pick a prefix in the Select Prefix list at the top right. The table shows the machines in that prefix that have log entries.
  3. Find the machine by its Name or Service Id (its Super Id). Use the search box to narrow the list.
  4. Click View on its row.

The Event Logs dialog shows the log's Super Id, the machine's Service Id and Name, then one line per event, oldest first:

<date and time>  [STATUS:<n>] ==> <what happened>

The number after STATUS: is the machine's status at that moment: 0 Running, 1 Stopped, 2 Terminated, 3 Creating, 4 Starting, 5 Updating, 6 Paused, 7 Failed to provision, 8 Failed to process. See Statuses.

Click Close when you're done.

Note

The list of prefixes here includes every prefix in your organization, not only the ones attached to you. The same log is also in each machine's Logs tab: see Logs.

Troubleshooting

  • "Please select prefix" Pick a prefix in Select Prefix first.
  • A machine is missing. Only machines with log entries are listed. Check you picked the right prefix.
  • "unauthorized" Your session expired or your role doesn't allow this. Sign in again or ask an administrator (roles).
