Client certificates
Generate a client certificate and private key, download them, and delete certificates you no longer need.
A client certificate lets a program prove who it is with a certificate and private key instead of a password. You generate, download and delete certificates in Organization SettingsClient Certificates. The list shows each certificate's Super Id, Name and when it was Created.
Anyone with private.pem can authenticate as you. Store it securely and delete the certificate if the key may have leaked.
Generate a certificate
- Open Organization SettingsClient Certificates.
- Click Generate.
- Enter a Name that says where you'll use it, for example
backup-server. - Click Submit.
The window closes and the new certificate appears in the table. If it doesn't, click Refresh, then try again.
Download a certificate
- Find the certificate and click ActionDownload.
- Click Download.
Your browser saves a ZIP archive named keys-<Super Id>. If the file has no .zip extension, add it before you open it. Inside are:
| File | What it is |
|---|---|
certificate.pem | The client certificate. |
private.pem | Its private key. |
You can download the same certificate again at any time.
Delete a certificate
Anything that uses the certificate stops authenticating. Generate and install a new one first.
- Find the certificate and click ActionRemove.
- Click Remove to confirm.
The certificate disappears from the table. If it's still there, click Refresh.
