Live costs
See what your services have cost so far in this billing period, before the invoice arrives.
BillingLive Costs shows what your services have cost so far in the current billing period, per service and per item. Use it to keep an eye on spend between invoices.
Read your live costs
- Open BillingLive Costs.
- Wait for the figures to load. Grey shimmering bars show while they load, which can take a while if you have many services.
- Click the + box next to a service to see what makes up its cost. Click it again to collapse it.
At the top you'll see two totals:
- Total Active Services: how many services have costs in this period.
- Total estimated cost in (USD): the total so far, in US dollars.
The table below has one row per service:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Description | The service name and its ID. Under it, each item you're billed for, followed by its tier in the form "(Tier : ...)". |
| Type | Machine, RDS (database) or Drive (storage). |
| Usage | For machines and databases, the hours the service was idle. For items under a service, the unit it is measured in. A dash means zero. |
| Amount | The cost so far, in US dollars. |
For machines and databases, each item's amount is its run cost, idle cost and standard cost added together, the same parts you see on an invoice.
What's included
- Services: machines, databases and storage drives. Other services, such as load balancers, containers, functions, WAF and AI, aren't shown here. They appear on your invoices.
- Period: from the 1st of the month to today if today is between the 1st and the 15th, or from the 16th to today if today is the 16th or later.
- Estimate: the figures are an estimate. Your invoice shows the final amount.

Live Costs loads once each time you open or reload the console in your browser. Moving to another screen and back shows the same figures again.
- Reload the page in your browser (for example, press F5 or click the browser's reload button).
- Wait for the figures to load.
When you open Live Costs, you may briefly see the figures from your last visit before the new ones replace them.
Troubleshooting
- The grey bars never go away. That usually means there is nothing to bill yet: you have no machines, databases or drives with costs in this period. If you do, reload the page to try again.
- A service I expected is missing. Only machines, databases and drives are shown. If one type is missing completely, it may not have loaded. Reload the page.
- The amount is in US dollars but I pay in another currency. Live Costs always shows US dollars. Check your invoices for what you are charged.
