Quantum Container Services
Create a container cluster, check its status, manage access and open its console.
Quantum Container Services runs managed container clusters. You create and manage clusters in Super ContainersQuantum Container Services.
Your account must be set up first: profile, payment method, and at least one prefix that is attached to you. Until then, the screen shows Please complete setting up your account. with a short checklist. See Set up your account.
Choose a prefix
- Open Super ContainersQuantum Container Services.
- Pick a prefix in the Select Prefix ... list.
The clusters table appears with Super Id, Name, Cluster Access IP, Created At, Status and Action, and a Refresh button appears at the top.
Create a cluster
- Pick the prefix the cluster should belong to in Select Prefix .... The form has no prefix field.
- Click Create Cluster.
- Type a Cluster name and, if you like, a Description.
- Pick a Region.
- Click Create. Click Cancel to go back without creating.
You'll see Added. About 10 seconds later the list reloads and the cluster appears with the status Creating. After you create a cluster, the list keeps refreshing every 10 seconds while any cluster is Creating, Starting or Updating. At other times, click Refresh to see status changes.
If something is rejected, you'll see an error such as "unable to process request" or "unauthorized" and the form closes without keeping what you typed. Added may appear as well, but the cluster wasn't created. Check your role in this prefix (roles) and try again.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Creating | Being set up. |
| Starting | Booting. |
| Running | Up and reachable. You can connect. |
| Updating | A change is being applied. |
| Stopped | Powered off. |
| Paused | Suspended. |
| Terminated | Deleted. Hidden by default. |
| Failed To Provision | Creation didn't succeed. Hidden by default. |
| Failed To Process | The last operation didn't succeed. Hidden by default. Contact support. |
Search and filter
- The search box matches the exact cluster name.
- Click Filter to build conditions on any field (for example Region
=in-mum-1). Use Add for more conditions and click Filter to apply. Separate several values with commas. - By default the list hides Terminated and failed clusters. Reset brings back that default; Clear removes all filters so you see everything.
- Click Refresh to reload the list.
Cluster details
Click the cluster's Super Id, or ActionView. A panel slides up from the bottom. Drag its top bar to make it taller, and close it with ✕.
| Tab | What you'll find |
|---|---|
| General | Name, Super Id, memory, disk size, vCPUs, OS type and region; the initial password (with a copy icon); and the Private Ip and Public Ip cards, each with CIDR, gateway and mask. |
| Security/Access | The traffic profiles and key pairs attached to the cluster. |
| Logs | Everything that happened to the cluster, one line per event with its status. |
| Snapshots | Save and restore the cluster's disk. |
The password on the General tab is the starting password. Sign in once and change it, or use a key pair instead.
Traffic profiles
A traffic profile sets which traffic can reach the cluster.
- Open the Security/Access tab and click Attach in the Traffic Profile section.
- Search for and pick a Traffic Profile, then click Add. Repeat to add more.
- To remove one, click ✕ next to it.
- Click Save.
The list you save replaces the profiles that were attached before. Each attached profile shows its rules: protocol, IP, port range, redirect port range and direction.
Key pairs
Attach a key pair to sign in with a key instead of a password.
- Open the Security/Access tab and click Attach in the Key Pairs section.
- Check the Username (it starts as
super). - Pick a key pair in Key Pairs.
- Click Attach.
To detach a key pair, click ✕ next to it and then Detach. Detaching here doesn't remove the key from the cluster itself: remove it there too if you no longer trust it.
Snapshots
- Create: click Create Snapshot, then Create.
- Revert: click Revert on a snapshot, then Revert in the Revert Warning! dialog.
- Delete: click Delete on a snapshot, then Delete in the Warning! dialog.
After each action, the panel switches to the Logs tab so you can follow progress.
Reverting puts the disk back to the moment of the snapshot. Changes made since then are lost. Take a new snapshot first if you may need them.
Once deleted, you can't revert to that snapshot.
Connect to a cluster
You can connect when the cluster is Running.
- Click ActionConnect on the cluster.
You'll see Connecting, then the cluster's console opens inside the main area of the console. To leave it, pick another item in the sidebar.
The Action menu can show Connect on a cluster that isn't Running. There, it can open a different cluster's console. Use Connect only on a cluster whose status is Running.
If nothing happens after you click Connect, the cluster isn't ready to accept connections yet. Wait until it is Running, click Refresh and try again. If it keeps happening, contact support.
Troubleshooting
- "Please complete setting up your account." Finish the checklist on the screen. See Set up your account.
- Connect is missing from the Action menu. The cluster isn't Running yet. Click Refresh once it is.
- My cluster disappeared from the list. It may be Terminated or failed, which are hidden by default. Click Clear next to Filter.
